Tracking tenants' electricity: remote control for landlords
How to follow your tenants' electricity use, remaining credit and problems from your phone without visiting the building: Wi-Fi prepaid meters and the customer portal.
If you rent out several flats, electricity questions never stop: who used how much, has the credit run out, why is the meter not giving power? Visiting the building to find out takes time. Tracking tenants' electricity lets you see all of this on your phone.
What can you follow?
Wi-Fi prepaid meters stay connected to our server, and the customer portal shows:
- Remaining credit: every flat's kWh credit on one screen, grouped by building.
- Days left: an estimate of when the credit runs out, based on recent average use.
- Daily use: a 30-day chart, so unusual increases stand out.
- Power status: on or off, and if off, why (credit used up, cut from the panel, cut by the meter).
- Alerts: credit used up, low credit, no connection, tampering.
- Monthly report: each flat's monthly use and top-ups as an Excel file.
What you can do remotely
- Top up: in TL or kWh; the credit usually reaches the meter within seconds.
- Switch power on or off: with one tap when needed.
- Tenant change: reset the remaining credit; the old tenant's money does not pass to the new one, and the history is kept.
What does the tenant see?
Without an account, tenants use the Check Meter Credit page with the meter number and their personal tenant code to see remaining credit, days left and daily use. The question "when will my electricity run out?" no longer comes to you. The code changes when the tenant changes.
What if the internet goes down?
The credit is stored in the meter. Without a connection the meter keeps applying the credit and cuts the power when it runs out; pending top-ups arrive once the connection returns.
How to start
Each flat gets a Wi-Fi prepaid meter connected to the building's Wi-Fi, and you get a portal account. Akten Elektrik handles installation and training. See the Prepaid Electricity System page or request a quote.
