Prepaid card electricity meters for complexes and apartment blocks
Shared electricity, per-flat or per-tenant billing, unpaid debts: what a prepaid card electricity meter solves for property managers and landlords.
When electricity has to be split between several users in one building, the usual problem is collection: the bill arrives, gets divided, and part of it goes unpaid. A prepaid card electricity meter breaks that cycle because electricity is paid for before it is used.
How it works
Each flat, shop or tenant gets a card meter. The user loads credit onto the card and presents it to the meter. Credit decreases with use; the meter warns when it runs low and cuts the supply when it runs out, restoring it as soon as new credit is loaded.
Where it is used
- Rentals and student housing: landlords no longer chase tenants' electricity debts.
- Buildings fed from one main supply: consumption is shared fairly by each unit's own meter.
- Shopping arcades: each business pays for its own use.
- Construction sites: clear sharing between subcontractors.
Before installation
The building's main supply contract stays with the distribution company; card meters measure the sharing inside the building. Each unit's circuit must pass through its own meter, and card top-up responsibility should be planned in advance. We check all of this during the site survey.
